Francis Drouin says farewell at 7th annual golf tournament

4 MIN READ

Every year, we look forward to teeing up for a good cause at the Francis Drouin Charity Golf Tournament in support of United Way East Ontario.

On Friday, August 19, 2022, we welcomed more than 110 golfers back to the course for a fun-filled day at Casselview Golf and Country Club in Casselman

PiiComm CEO Rick Robillard, MP Francis Drouin, and United Way's Director of Strategic Partnerships Mark Belanger pose for a photo before the golf tournament begins.

“I have to say it feels so wonderful to be out in the community, right here on the golf course, supporting the most vulnerable people in our region. It’s incredible to see so many people come out and play golf, show their local love, and make a difference for their neighbours in need.”

Building stronger communities

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us while helping to build stronger communities for all.

Thanks to our sponsors, partners, and participants, we raised more than $36,000 to help those feeling isolated in our region

In every community, there are families that need support. There are people facing barriers to vital services. Many are struggling with their mental health and looking for somewhere to turn.

By supporting United Way, and getting involved with events like our golf tournament, you’re helping to build a region that is great for everyone.

Francis' final tournament

After seven memorable events with Francis Drouin, the Member of Parliament for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell announced this year’s tournament would be his last as host.

“I’m an MP, but it’s not about me, it’s about United Way and the barriers they are breaking,” said Francis. “I’m glad to see so many businesses, so many not-for-profits joining in [to support] this great cause.”

Francis is proud of the longevity of the tournament. He is thankful to see so many participants and volunteers over the years.

“It’s emotional [to be hosting the tournament for the last time], and I know we’re changing the format next year, but I will always be involved. It’s great to see some of the folks who were here in year one who are still here and it’s also great to see the folks who weren’t here in year one and are here today. That’s a testament to the cause.”

Thank you to our sponsors

PiiComm was our title sponsor again this year. CEO Rick Robillard was on the green and wanted to extend his gratitude to all the participants for their support.

“We’re proud to be the title sponsor for the golf tournament. United Way is great for our communities. They help out locally and around the area with programs such as 211 and digital equity in Prescott-Russell. They’re working to really help people in our communities.”

This event wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible sponsors. A big shout to all our partners for their generosity:
