How Margaret stays mobile, healthy and in touch with others

< 1 MIN READ

Although she’s retired, Margaret’s days are packed with activity.

Margaret attends the Adult Day Program at the Good Companions Seniors’ Centre, a United Way partner. On the days she visits the Centre, she spends her time socializing, exercising, playing intellectually stimulating games, doing crafts and watching a variety of entertainment.

Margaret used to work as a nurse and traveled all over the world, so she’s used to staying busy. Luckily, Good Companions has a wide range of activities to keep her interest up.

United Way works with incredible local agencies like Good Companions to ensure Ottawa’s vulnerable seniors have the support they need to remain healthy, independent, and engaged in their community.

By donating to United Way, you help us invest in programs for seniors that reduce isolation and improve their overall physical and mental health.

With the support of donors, since 2011, United Way Ottawa and our partner agencies helped 32,834 seniors get the help they needed to maintain their independence and stay connected to their community.

In the darkest times, it’s the power of community that will light the way.

Let’s tackle our toughest social issues together. Poverty. Homelessness. Mental health. Social isolation. These challenges can feel overwhelming, but you can move the needle on all of them at once with a donation to United Way.
