Donor Bill of Rights
You, the Donor, have the right to:
- Be informed of United Way/Centraide Ottawa’s mission and how your contributions are being used;
- Receive correspondence, material and services from United Way/Centraide Ottawa in either English or French;
- Know who members of the Board of Directors are and expect that they will act responsibly and in the best interests of the community;
- Have access to the most recent annual financial statement of United Way/Centraide Ottawa;
- Be assured that your contribution will be used for the purposes specified when you gave;
- Recognition for your gift;
- Professional and courteous treatment by United Way/Centraide Ottawa representatives;
- A clear explanation of the relationship between the person soliciting donations and United Way/Centraide Ottawa;
- Have your name or any other information about you treated with the utmost confidentiality and neither shared nor sold on a donors mailing list;
- Receive prompt, truthful and complete answers to any questions you have about contributions to United Way/Centraide Ottawa.
