Kristian Bowie is the Chief Information and Technology Officer at United Way East Ontario. He leads a team that guides the technology vision, develops data-driven tools to improve operations, and collaboratively implements change to ensure success for United Way’s donors, volunteers, staff, communities, and partners.

During his 20-plus years with United Way, Kristian has worked at every level of the organization from seasonal employee to now sitting at the executive table. Throughout that time, he has introduced technologies that enable and elevate digital philanthropy, evolved existing tools to support hybrid work and integrated advanced analytics as a foundation for supporting strategic decision making.

He is passionate about digital transformation, the future of business solutions, and innovation powered by technology-driven capabilities, including machine learning and artificial intelligence and their ability to positively contribute to United Way’s community impact.

Prior to joining United Way, Kristian served in the Naval Reserve for five years and was stationed on Canada’s west coast and in Quebec City.

Kristian has a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University and lives in Ottawa with his wife and two children. His experience working at United Way, combined with his volunteering for child-focused community initiatives, has taught him the importance of community-level leadership and helped him understand the challenges faced by small community organizations, and the impact that is possible when you choose to become involved.
