What is the Ultimate Burger Battle?
The Ultimate Burger Battle is a national event held during the month of November across Canada in Support of United Way. Every burger sold makes a difference, with $2 from each sold being donated to help power vital local programs across Ottawa, Prescott-Russell, Lanark and Renfrew Counties.
Why is it called a ‘Battle’?
The event serves as a month-long event where different local restaurants and eateries compete against each other to become the Ultimate Burger of the region. That’s right—it is a true battle; there will be ketchup everywhere!
How many winners are there?
There are three main awards. Ultimate Burger of the Year, People’s Choice Award (we recognize the top 3), and Most Sold Ultimate Burger.
How will Ultimate Burgers and winners be announced?
We will be introducing participating restaurants’ Ultimate Burgers on our website and through social media. Once the month ends, we will also be announcing all the winning restaurants and highlighting all the delicious good that has been made throughout the month!
Can restaurants create new burgers specifically for the event?
Absolutely! We encourage restaurants to get creative and design a unique burger just for the Ultimate Burger Battle. The more creative the better and the more diners will love restaurants for it.
Are there vegan and vegetarian options or substitutes?
Yes, all our available Ultimate Burgers that are vegetarian friendly or offer different options will be marked on our site with mini leaf icons. Feel free to ask your server in-store!
Can I order Ultimate Burgers for takeout or delivery?
Yes! Many participating restaurants offer their Ultimate Burgers for dine-in, takeout, and delivery—check with the individual restaurant for availability.
What are people voting for?
Members of the public will have the chance to vote for the People’s Choice Award in November. Our team of Ambassadors will be voting for the Ultimate Burger of the Year from our participating Platinum restaurants. These prizes are highly coveted and signify the best-tasting burgers from our community. Eat a delicious burger and vote—it’s as simple as that!
What are Ambassadors?
Ambassadors have the sizzling task of tasting Ultimate Burgers from our Platinum Restaurant list. Grading them on a criterion including taste, originality, concept, execution, and more. They help us spread burger love across social media by creating a buzz and rallying fellow foodies to join the fun!
Can anyone participate as a voter?
Yes! Everyone who loves burgers and wants to support the community can vote for their favourite Ultimate Burger during the event.
How many times can I vote for my favourite burger?
You can vote once a day, but just a heads-up—we might remove any votes we think are suspicious. We want the people to be heard!
What is a ‘passport’ used for?
Your Ultimate Burger Battle passport is a fun way to track your burger adventure!
When you visit and vote for three or more participating restaurants, you’ll automatically qualify to enter the contest to win the Big Green Egg MiniMax EGG Ultimate Nest Kit.
The passport is just for you — it’s a handy keepsake that fits right in your wallet and helps you track your journey. You don’t need to submit it to win; our voting system will record your visits and votes using your email.
If you’re selected as a winner, the draw will follow our standard contest rules.
What do restaurants get from being involved?
The event was built to support local businesses and those in need in a new and engaging way. The Battle helps boost the profiles of all the delicious restaurants and eateries taking part and highlighting why they care about their community while giving back to those most in need.
Is there a cost to participate as a restaurant?
Restaurants typically pay a registration fee based on their sponsorship level. This helps cover event costs and maximize contributions to United Way programs.
