United Way East Ontario is proud to co-chair, alongside Leadership féminin Prescott-Russell, a project called Concerté.e.s pour l’égalité, which translates to Concerted for Equality, aimed at eliminating systemic barriers to gender equality in Prescott-Russell.
We know that many people face discrimination for their skin colour, culture, gender, ethnicity, religion, age or ability, which results in higher levels of poverty, poor mental and physical health, and social exclusion.
Our approach to equity involves ongoing engagement with and feedback from our diverse stakeholders, and our willingness to be flexible. We know that when we work together with a common vision, when we think differently about problems, and when we shift power imbalances, we can change the systems that hold people back.
Audray Lizotte, United Way’s Regional Director, Prescott-Russell, took part in a recent press conference during which the Table Concerté.e.s pour l’égalité released a report on the status of women in Prescott and Russell.

An awareness campaign ÉLEVONS NOS VOIX, which can be translated to ‘Let’s Raise Our Voices,’ launched on February 20 and is leading us into this year’s International Womens Day on March 8.
