Why it matters
This event was created to ensure kids struggling during the pandemic do not fall through the cracks. Without regular access to summer programs, after-school homework help, recreational activities, and social programs throughout the year, youth miss out on crucial supports they need to thrive.
For 12-year-old Mario, the bi-weekly meal night offered through his local youth centre has been an exciting staple in his pandemic routine. Youth centres in Lanark County are working together to keep rural youth connected and engaged, even when distance and pandemic restrictions keep them apart.
We know COVID-19 has meant even greater challenges for local youth across our region. As a community, we have the tools to address the inequitable impact of the pandemic on young people.

Time spent outside of school is as crucial to child development as time in class.
Without regular access to summer programs, after-school homework help, recreational activities, and social programs throughout the year, youth are missing out on crucial supports they need to thrive.
For youth in low-income neighbourhoods, for rural youth, for kids in unstable and violent homes, COVID-19 has meant even greater challenges than before—and the threat of even worse outcomes.
All funds raised will support United Way’s advocacy, collaboration and investments that help create opportunities for local youth to learn and grow—putting them on the path to success in school, and in life.
No. Raising funds is not mandatory to participate in the event.
Everyone who donates $10 or more will receive a tax receipt.
