Join United Way and the National Bank on Sunday, May 16 to get inspired and get moving for an important cause: ensuring that every kid has the chance to succeed.

How it works

Get active

Choose any sport or activity and mark your calendars for Sunday, May 16. On that day, we’ll all move for youth! You can stay inside, get outside, do it alone or with your family and friends (just be sure to follow the latest local public health guidelines). You’ll be joined virtually by hundreds of others, all working together to raise awareness and much needed support for the kids that need it most.

Fundraise

Set your fundraising goal. Every dollar you raise will help create opportunities for local youth to learn and grow—putting them on the path to success in school, and in life. Use our fundraising toolkit to get inspired and see how easy it is to make an impact.

As a participant and fundraiser, you’ll have the chance to win great prizes!

Stay connected

Check in with other participants on social media using #MoveForYouth. We want to see how you’re getting active and making a difference.

Our sponsors are offering up great Move for Youth prizes!

The more you fundraise to support vulnerable youth in our region, the more you can win in Kunstadt Sports digital gift cards.

  • Raise $100 or more and you’ll receive a $20 gift card
  • Raise $250 or more and you’ll receive a $50 gift card
  • Raise $500 or more and you’ll receive a $100 gift card

Students wearing masks in class

Why it matters

Time spent outside of school is just as crucial to child development as time in class.

Without access to summer programs, after-school homework help, recreational activities and social programs throughout the year, youth in low-income neighbourhoods are more likely to drop out of school—continuing the cycle of poverty.

We know that the pandemic has made many challenges in our communities much worse. For youth in low-income neighbourhoods, for rural youth, for kids in unstable and violent homes, COVID-19 has meant even greater challenges than before—and the threat of even worse outcomes.

As a community, we have the tools to address the inequitable impact of COVID-19 on young people, but we need your help to make sure no child gets left behind.
