Nunavut Community Services Recovery Fund

Community Services Recovery Fund

The Government of Canada, through Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), announced a one-time historic new fund: the Community Services Recovery Fund (CSRF). The $400 million CSRF will strengthen charities and non-profits as they build resilience by making investments in their people, organizations, and program innovation.

The CSRF is a collaboration between the Government of Canada, the Canadian Red Cross, Community Foundations of Canada and United Way Centraide Canada

United Way Centraide Canada (UWCC) has asked United Way East Ontario (UWEO) to manage investments of the CSRF. We were proud to work with the community service partners during the pandemic for our collaborative work on theEmergency Community Support Fund in 2020. Once again, we look forward to supporting the important investment in Nunavut and we are accepting applications for the Community Services Recovery Fund from January 6, 2023, until February 21, 2023.

At the local level, United Way East Ontario, the local Community Foundations and the Red Cross will work together in a unified response to this work. Over the last several years, our organizations have collaborated in times of crisis to help those most in need. This is another one of those moments in which the three local organizations will collectively support the sector.

All funded projects will need to apply under one of the following streams:

  • Investing in People (i.e., staff, volunteers, Board of Directors);
  • Investing in Organizational systems and processes;
  • Investing in Program and service innovation and redesign

United Way East Ontario will be the primary lead on accepting applications for the program and service innovation and redesign for the community sector.

This Call for Proposals for funding through the Community Services Recovery Fund is only open to agencies located in and serving people in Nunavut. The amount of funding available for investment is $97,000.

We’re grateful to the Government of Canada for their support as it continues to do with the community sector to help strengthen their capacity to face the challenges today and in the future.
