Community Services Recovery Fund

Community Services Recovery Fund

For more than two years, United Way East Ontario has been responding to the needs of the community and the community services sector through our Local Love and Global Crisis work. We continue to collaborate with government, frontline services, and funders to strengthen the sector as a United Front to support those most in need—now and in the future.

The Government of Canada, through Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), announced a one-time historic new fund: the Community Services Recovery Fund (CSRF). The $400 million CSRF will strengthen charities and non-profits as they build resilience by making investments in their people, organizations, and program innovation.

The CSRF is a collaboration between the Government of Canada, the Canadian Red Cross, Community Foundations of Canada and United Way Centraide Canada

United Way East Ontario is proud to support this important investment in our region, including Ottawa, Lanark County, Renfrew County, and Prescott-Russell, and we are accepting applications for the CSRF from January 6, 2023, until February 21, 2023.

At the local level, United Way East Ontario, the local Community Foundations and the Red Cross will work together in a unified response to this work. Over the last several years, our organizations have collaborated in times of crisis to help those most in need. Once again, this is one of those moments in which the three local organizations will collectively support the community sector.

All funded projects will need to apply under one of the following streams:

  • Investing in People (i.e., staff, volunteers, Board of Directors);
  • Investing in Organizational systems and processes;
  • Investing in program and service innovation and redesign

United Way East Ontario will be the lead on accepting applications for the program and service innovation and redesign for the community sector.

A total of $3,768,173 is available to invest for innovation and redesign of programs.

We’re grateful to the Government of Canada for their support as it continues to do with the community sector to help strengthen their capacity to face the challenges today and in the future.
