From May 1–21, 552 participants hiked, biked, ran, danced, and more, all to Move for Youth. Together, we moved more than 62 million steps, doubling our initial goal.
All your hard work has made a huge impact. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Why we move
Early in the pandemic, National Bank recognized that vulnerable kids were struggling. Their team approached United Way East Ontario and Centraide Outaouais in 2020 about how they could partner with us to make a difference. Move for Youth was created as a way for the community to come together and show up for kids when they needed us most.
Now, in our third year, Move for Youth has the same mission to help every kid reach their full potential.
When we raised the bar, you kept going
This year, the Move for Youth challenge was to reach 30 million steps before May 21 with our generous sponsors donating $30,000 to support local youth in need. You crushed that goal in less than two weeks. We saw your commitment to the cause, and we asked you to keep going to achieve 40 million steps, with a donation of $10,000 from National Bank bringing our investment in the community to $40,000.
You blew us away! By the end of the challenge, you’d moved an incredible 62,334,200 steps. And thanks to the support of all our sponsors, partners, and donors, we raised a total of $84,000.
Our title partner, National Bank, shares their gratitude
“On behalf of all of us here at the National Bank, I want to say a sincere thank you to all the participants. We are so proud to be the title partner working in collaboration with United Way East Ontario and Centraide Outaouais to build a better future for the local youth in our communities."

“United Way is doing inspiring work to make sure kids are on a path to succeed in school and in life. And thanks to you, we’ll be able to make an even bigger impact,” Stéphane said.
Your dedication to local youth moves us!
Young kids depend on the skills they learn early on for the rest of their lives. Funds raised during Move for Youth will go a long way for kids in our communities.
“Coming out of the pandemic, we know growing up is harder than ever before, especially in the summer when not every kid has a place to go,” explained Trisha Islam, Director, All That Kids Can Be, United Way East Ontario.
"Your support means children and youth in our region get access to community spaces, counselling, mentors, fun activities, and the educational support they need to feel safe, learn, grow, develop healthy relationships and be whoever they want to be, all year long."
