For most people, the concept of having credit or debit cards in one’s wallet is anything but new. But how often does anyone really think about the behind-the-scenes inner-workings of how those cards connect to and share data with the institution that’s issued them? After all, without that connection, a card of any type is worth little more than the plastic it’s printed on.

This highly complicated connection is where Ottawa’s own 40+ year success story, DataKinetics, shines. In fact, in the four decades in business, the company has managed to garner the majority of the world’s Fortune 500 companies as customers, with many of the top global banks, credit card companies, insurance companies, and more, all relying on DataKinetics to ensure their ongoing success.

The company has also managed to more than triple its revenues over the past decade, all while continuing to grow its global market share. In fact, DataKinetics’ renowned data performance and optimization solutions now support yearly transactions that number in the trillions—all from the comfort of the Nation’s capital.

And to add even more fuel to DataKinetics’ trajectory, a sister company was formed in 2016. This new entity, omNovos, delivers omni-channel customer engagement solutions that enable retailers to better connect with their customers whether in-store, online, or even through mobile apps. Like its predecessor, omNovos is already poised for great things as it becomes the global leader in its own space.

The commitment of the DataKinetics’ team to the community is a direct result of the company’s culture— achieving an astonishing 100% participation rate in support of United Way Ottawa alone. DataKinetics has raised more than than $500,000 over the years for the charity.

“Attracting such bright people is what has accounted for the company’s ongoing success,” says Bill. DataKinetics has not only attracted incredible talent, but it has also managed to keep them.

“It’s all about loving what you do,” adds Bill. “If you are truly passionate about what you do and who you do it for, success is something that comes as a fortunate byproduct. It’s that passion that also attracts other like-minded individuals. It’s why we consider ourselves to be so lucky—our long-lived team is comprised of some of the best, brightest, most passionate people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. For that, I’m eternally grateful.”

As we all know, technology moves at a seemingly ever-increasing pace—and for companies like DataKinetics and omNovos, it’s that pace that has led them to be world leaders in their respective industries.
