More people than ever are turning to local social services for help due to instability in the economy and lingering effects from the pandemic. Given the circumstances, 211 has become a lifeline for many who might not know where to turn.
On February 11, we celebrate 211 Day by raising awareness for this vital, Canada-wide phone and online service which anyone can use to find information for government and community-based, non-clinical health and social services.
United Way East Ontario is a founding partner of 211, alongside Community Navigation of Eastern Ontario (CNEO).
CNEO Executive Director John Hoyles joined 580 CFRA’s Ottawa At Work with Patricia Boal to talk about what exactly 211 is, how it works, and who can benefit from it. Listen to the interview here.
