Every year, we look forward to coming together—across four regions—to bike to Beau’s Oktoberfest in support of vulnerable youth in our communities. Though a physical event will not take place this year, the bike ride is too great of an experience to miss out on, and the need of homeless and vulnerable youth in our communities is too great to wait until the end of the pandemic.

Help end youth homelessness

The pandemic has made it even harder for youth experiencing homelessness to meet their basic needs.

Without a safe place to call home, youth are incapable of self-isolating—putting themselves and others at greater risk of contracting COVID-19. And without access to computers and the internet, their connection to social services, mentorship, and friends has been completely cut off.

At United Way East Ontario, we invest in programs that provide housing and support services like employment training, mental health resources, educational achievement, and more. We also advocate to strengthen the system that supports at-risk youth.

We work with our partners to get at the root of the issue and create long-term solutions that end youth homelessness for good. This not only shuts the door to chronic adult homelessness—it saves lives.

The funds you raise as part of the Beau’s Oktoberfest Virtual Ride will help youth like Ciizzy find a safe place to call home.

While COVID-19 made it hard for Ciizzy to find a place to stay after she was kicked out, United Way and Youth Services Bureau helped her find housing and a fresh start.

Together with your support, we can provide more youth with opportunities to build a brighter future.

Frequently Asked Questions

When you register for the Beau’s Oktoberfest Virtual Ride, you’ll be asked to join our Facebook group so you can stay in the loop on the latest updates, share your KMs and learn about the newest prize challenge.

For the Virtual Ride, you won’t be asked to complete a specific distance to become eligible for your jersey or prizes. You can ride anywhere, for as far you want, and you can ride alone or with your family. We ask that participants follow the latest the local public health guidelines with regards to physical distancing and appropriate safety parameters.

While you’re not obligated to cycle any particular distance, we encourage participants to challenge themselves.

We encourage participants to fundraise—the more that you raise, the more prizes that you can win! You can fundraise until our cutoff on October 14 at 11:59 PM.

The money that is raised during the Beau’s Virtual Ride in support of United Way will help fund programs and initiatives that provide local youth experiencing homelessness with the education, personal and employment supports they need to ease their transition into a more secure, permanent home.

COVID-19 amplifies the social challenges our communities face year-round—making United Way’s role in helping to understand and solve these issues more important than ever.

Homelessness, an issue that was hard to see in normal times, is even more in the dark because of the pandemic. The funds you raise as part of the Beau’s Virtual Ride will help youth like Ciizzy. You can learn more about Ciizzy’s story and how she found a fresh start here.

Raising funds is not mandatory to participate in this event, but the more you raise, the more prizes you can win! For example, if you raise $50, you’ll win a Beau’s stein. You have until October 14 at 11:59 PM to raise as much as you can to support youth experiencing homelessness.

All donations will support United Way’s vital work to provide youth with the education, personal and employment supports they need to ease their transition into a more secure, permanent home. With your help, we can create opportunities for youth to build a more stable life.

As a participant, you will receive:

  • A custom Beau’s Brewing Co. cycling jersey
  • A virtual ride fundraising toolkit
  • Great prizes for fundraising, including a chance to win your 2022 Beau’s Oktoberfest Charity Bike Ride Registration

Absolutely! You can register for this event as an individual or you can create your team and invite your friends and family to participate and fundraise together. As part of our prizing, we’ll award the team that fundraises the most with a Beau’s Keg Party (the winning team will receive their prize in cans).

When you get to the second step in the registration process, you’ll be prompted to either register as an individual, join a team, or create a team. Create your team if it doesn’t already exist and share your team name with your teammates so they search and join during the registration process.

Yes, everyone who makes a donation of $10 or more will receive a tax receipt.

Note: The registration fee is not tax receiptable, as per Canada Revenue Agency rules.

The registration fee includes the cost of your custom Beau’s jersey that you receive as part of your registration. It also helps to cover the administrative cost of organizing this event.
