Community Builder Award Descriptions

CBA of the Year
Every year, United Way East Ontario honours an exceptional person or organization that has significantly contributed to improving the lives of so many in our communities. Community Builder of the Year Award recipients exemplify United Way’s core values as they consistently give, are never afraid to speak up, and take action on behalf of others – all with the goal of making a measureable, local impact.

Ambassador Award
The Ambassador Award recognizes a person who shares and exemplifies the values and goals of United Way. Every year, the organization highlights someone who has joined us to reach out to partners, and has gone above and beyond in dedicating time, energy and effort to building healthier and stronger communities – for everyone.

Healthy People, Strong Communities
The Healthy People, Strong Communities Award recognizes a person or group working to improve the lives of vulnerable people, including seniors, people living in poverty, and those facing mental health or addiction issues. This Award honours the work being done in the community to support those struggling with their mental health, addictions, and address poverty and isolation faced by seniors.

GenNext Award

Every year the GenNext Advisory Cabinet celebrates the outstanding achievements of the next generation of local community builders. The GenNext Award recognizes a person or group (in their 20s or 30s) who inspires others in the community. Through advocacy, awareness, altruism, or action, this person is driving social change and local impact.
