Position Summary and Responsibilities:

This role plays a significant role in executing stakeholder engagement and community development initiatives. The Regional Director will work within their assigned region to advance community impact priorities and cultivate support with local officials from all levels of government, community partners, individuals, and corporations.

The Regional Director works with the Senior Director, Policy, Planning and Investment and staff members tasked with central office responsibilities to advance the organization’s strategic objectives.

Finally, this role will be integral in working with and supporting the individual Advisory Councils to ensure that the efforts to convene, advocate and invest are executed and in alignment with local requirements and needs.

 This is a hybrid, with a commitment of two days a week onsite.

Responsibilities:

  •  Works with Advisory Councils in assigned region to develop and execute on community impact/investment and local partnership development where social agendas and philanthropy are aligned to impact
  • Cultivate and develop relationships community partners, including donors within the assigned region; this position works to develop a thorough understanding of the unique needs in the community.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to pursue opportunities for innovative programs and expansion that help achieve UWEO’s impact strategies and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with the President/CEO, Vice President Community Impact, Senior Director, Policy, Planning and Investment to develop and execute various volunteer engagement strategies and programs.
  • Led by the Senior Director, Policy, Planning and Investment, integrate business objectives into the overall strategic objectives.
  • Lead the local office team who might include paid staff, operational volunteers, and Loaned Representatives, to execute on the annual corporate plan. Responsible for, resource allocation and performance management.
  • Maintains the facilities at the local branch office.
  • Prepare and submit necessary materials i.e. documentation, reports, forms, etc. for processing by the central office – community investment process, finance, etc.
  • Provide input on strategic region wide approaches that are supported centrally i.e. community initiatives, partnerships, sponsorship, campaigns etc.; follow established guidelines, procedures, and any organizational agreements.
  • Works with Community Impact to ensure alignment to the impact strategies through the local convening and investment activities.
  • Works with and provides primary staff support for Advisory Councils for assigned regions.

Qualifications:

Education

  • University or College graduate from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Experience

  •  3-5 years working experience, preferably in a charitable or not-for-profit business environment.
  • Strong community builder – needs to be able to build solid mutually beneficial relationships with community organizations, companies, volunteers, and the community at large.
  • Understanding of the United Way movement in Canada.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to demonstrate a very high-level of clear communication.
  • Ability to mobilize others, including volunteers and stakeholders, to deliver and implement strategies, tactics, and action plans.
  • Experience in managing, training, and recruiting volunteers.
  • Experience in managing grants from both public and private foundations.
  • Experience in revenue generation at both the individual (e.g., major gifts and planned to give) and organizations (corporate gifts, campaigns).
  • Experience in planning events of both a small and large nature.
  • Excellent written and verbal command of the English and French language.
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint).
  • Must be comfortable representing the organization with French media.
  • Excellent facilitation skills.
  • High level of understanding of the needs of the community and the partners in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to attend meetings outside of regular work hours and have a valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle.
