Vice President, Marketing and Communications
Gord was born and raised in Ottawa, and after leaving for a period of time to pursue his post-secondary education and early career, he returned in 1990 to settle for good and start his family. With a lengthy and successful career in the technology and broadcasting industries, Gord came to United Way in late 2016 in pursuit of an opportunity to apply his expertise towards philanthropic endeavors. “Given the many advantages and abundant opportunity I’ve been so fortunate to have in my life, I had a burning desire to share my talents in a way that would benefit others,” says Gord. “Each day at United Way brings the satisfaction of knowing your work has value and deep meaning.”
Before United Way, Gord spent 16 years as a corporate vice president responsible for marketing at three different software companies in the Ottawa area, as well as a decade of previous experience in director level management with technology and media companies. Academically, Gord holds a university degree from Queen’s in economics, a college diploma in broadcasting, has served on advisory boards for two community colleges, and taught marketing as a part-time professor with the Algonquin College School of Business.
