Dennise Taylor-Gilhen*

Interim President and CEO, United Way East Ontario

Dennise joined United Way’s Community Impact team in 2003, where she served for four years as Impact Director. After an eight-year period as CEO for Parkinson Society Eastern Ontario, she returned to United Way and is Vice President, Community Impact and is the current Interim President and CEO.

As a member of United Way East Ontario’s senior management team, Dennise is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of strategies that support effective community planning, resource investment, and partner and community relation. Dennise provides strategic vision and direction intended to strengthen United Way’s work in three areas: All that Kids Can Be; From Poverty to Possibility; and Healthy People, Strong Communities.

Dennise draws on her many years of experience working with corporate and community partners to respond to some of her community’s most pressing and complex social issues. She believes that by engaging others in important conversations, we can work together to achieve positive change.

Dennise has a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Ottawa, along with a Bachelor of Education, and a Bachelor of Arts, English Literature from the University of Saskatchewan. In 2018, she became the first Canadian to graduate from United Way Worldwide’s Advanced Leadership Program.
