Denis Vaillancourt

A native of North Lancaster in Eastern Ontario, Denis Vaillancourt lives in Rockland, Ontario. He is a respected educator and experienced manager who has worked in the Ontario education sector for more than 39 years as a teacher, principal, school trustee, superintendent of education, and director of education.

He retired from education after a four-year term as Assistant Deputy Minister of Education responsible for French Language Education and Educational Administration for the Ontario Ministry of Education. He is widely acknowledged for his strong leadership and consensus-building skills, as well as his ability to analyze and synthesize. Most recently, he was appointed a member of the Board of Directors of the National Capital Commission (NCC) for a four-year term.

Over the years, Denis has been involved in his community and continues to be active in the Richelieu Club and the Optimist Club of Rockland. He served on the Board of Directors of the French Language Health Services Network of Eastern Ontario and was chair from 2009 to 2011. He was president of “Assemblée de la francophonie de l’Ontario” (AFO) from 2010 to 2016, and a member of the Board of Directors of the “Fédération des communautés francophones et acadiennes” du Canada (FCFA) from 2011 to 2016.

His community involvement over the years has earned him the Order of Prescott and Russell’s Francophonie, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the rank of Knight in the “Ordre de la Pléiade” awarded by the Assembly of Francophone Parliamentarians and was admitted into the “Compagnie des Cent-Associés”.

Since 2015, he has been involved with United Way and is a member of the United Way East Ontario Advisory Council for Prescott-Russell.
